#1856| One afternoon by the wharf
River Thames, London
We spent a rare sunny afternoon in London walking down the River Thames, people watching and listening to free concerts, trying to get into the Shakespeare’s Globe and wondering if we could push kids into the river without anyone noticing.. or maybe that last bit was just me. It was so lovely – happiness sounds so silly and trivial at the best of times but everyone sitting there sunning themselves just seemed unendingly happy
. We lolled around in a most lazy manner till sunset, then fell into appropriate degrees of awed silence as the sun set brilliantly over the river. It’s so easy to date here
, my boyfriend complained, there are so many things to do – it’s so easy to impress a girl, and all you have to do is take a walk down a river.
I didn’t reply; I was too busy falling in love.
