imagesGrand Hyatt, Singapore.

Sometime early this year I took a mid semester break, falling backwards into the luxury that is the Grand Hyatt. Although I’ve danced around the staycation a couple of times, using it as a base to shoot my Learning to Love yourself post and 24 Hours post, it occurred to me recently that I’ve never really gotten down to putting up the rest of the visuals from my stay.

The Hyatt was where my parents got married, where I had my JC prom sleepover, and where I attended my first large scale event (Richard Mills was launching, they invited Miss A, I was eighteen). When I stepped back into the place something clicked – it felt like coming back to a place born of long familiarity and association.

The place is gorgeous; grand. The kind of place that affords secret indoor waterfalls – a balance between quiet impressiveness and private showiness. Really, think about it – who installs a three storey high waterfall, but doesn’t display it publicly? I for one would like a waterfall in my home, if only because I know how it’d fascinate my cat..

After growing up with fond memories of the Hyatt, this staycation was lovely to me in it’s own right – waking up between its soft fluffy white sheets is perfection all on its own, but imagine waking up to that and an email informing you of your Masters acceptance and full scholarship, effectively guaranteeing your future for the next two years. Beautiful memories each time I hit the Hyatt: I think I’ve started thinking of it semiconsciously as something of my private lucky charm.

Thank you for the hospitality and great vibes, Grand Hyatt Singapore!
