Disclaimer: This is going to be a very long post!

If you know me personally, you’d know what a huge fan i am of weddings.

When i was a kid i used to get SUPER excited everytime we were invited to weddings (and that’s plenty, given that my dad’s a pastor heehee) and i used to plan my own wedding down to the very last detail. I have this plan where i’ll get married every seven years (to the same guy, obviously, we’ll just keep renewing our vows) so i can have different styled ceremonies- a church one, an outdoor one, a beach one and so on- every time. When Kate Middleton and Prince William got married i watched the entire thing then ran out and bought the special royal wedding commemorative issue at the Phuket airport.

The renewing vows every 7 years thing is such a good idea okay! Check out this cute old couple.

I thought to myself, Its about time i did a wedding post too. I dont know if it’s just me, but i feel like weddings are getting less and less creative (or maybe its just singapore…) and i think it’s such a pity- its a once in a lifetime thing so why not drench it in personal style?

Everyone pretty much has grand ceremonies in a hotel which are all lovely and gorgeous, but what differentiates them? When you’ve been to as many weddings as i do…

This is one of my greatest nightmares:

Me: Do you remember my wedding?
Friend: Ah yes.. it was the one with the pink macaroons in the grand ballroom of the Fullerton right?
Me: (wails) Nooooo!!! I served white macaroons.. and i was in the Island ballroom!
Friend: Sorry dear… everyone has their wedding in the Fullerton nowadays you know. They’re all pretty much the same (walks away)

NIGHTMARE.

It doesnt have to be a huge wedding- plenty of these were small ceremonies with less than forty guests. I love themed weddings (i think they’re the most memorable- think Xiaxue’s Mafia Themed wedding!), so i went through StyleMePretty and picked out all my favourite photosets!

I’m extremely traditional when it comes to wedding gowns myself, i cannot comprehend why anyone wouldn’t want a full length one. The longer the train the better! Also, mine is going to be super elaborate. You can wear short minidresses all the time, but its not everyday you get to wear a wedding gown.

Seating Plan. So personalised! ^^

WHAT A GREAT IDEA! Parasols for the bridesmaids. Perfect for outdoor weddings- Singapore’s terribly hot. I honestly dont know if i will ever have an outdoor wedding myself- i think they’re awfully pretty but i cannot stand the heat.

Photobucket

Parasols for the guests too.

Looks so much less sweaty and sticky!!!

Okay, lets look at cakes. I dont know if people actually eat wedding cakes, they cost a bomb and who could bear to eat them they look like works of art! My goodness. I’d take a million photos +a 360 degrees video of it before cutting into it.

My. Gorgeous.

And my personal favourite:

Stunning.

Indoor themed weddings:

The great part about indoor weddings- you don’t have to worry about the weather, you don’t have to worry about (God forbid) mosquito bites, you dont have to worry about sudden unexpected disruptions of noise from huge trucks honking at each other on the railway, you can play up the lightings..

“Tickle fight” and “Give me s’more” placards for the snackbar! I love quirky personalised touches 😀

Outdoor Weddings:

Outdoor weddings just have some kind of charm to them- they’re so freaking beautiful!!! Provided it doesn’t rain. And… the heat… It would be such a spoiler if you start feeling all sticky and sweaty at your own wedding .____.

BOO!

You can replace the huge balls up there with smaller ones strung around the entire tent if you’re worried about not being able to find it. I got mine from Phuket, they were only 200Baht! Also i think CottonOn used to have them. I’m sure they’re easily available, anyhow.

The light blue ribbon strung through the chairs: such a nice touch!

The robin egg blue and woven brown bags go surprisingly well together. Reminds me of tiffany and co once again- very very pretty colour theme! Oh yes, and the small balls of lights in the first photo stretching out from the building is what i was talking about previously.

Photobucket

This is nice too. I couldnt imagine a wedding which was not white-based, i dont think it would be particularly weddingy.

The ceremony board is so lovely! Also i am pretty sure you can get boards like this for about two dollars in daiso- ditto for chalk. Okay even if there isnt, i think Popular sells them.

(Look, cost-efficient wedding planning! :D)

I really love the concept of signs pointing you towards the reception area and all that!

Check it out! Doggie!

I don’t personally like dogs that much though- im fine with them, but i prefer cats. I dont think i could walk a Cat down the aisle though, they’re really independent little things and might get it into their heads that they’d rather go off and chase a butterfly or lie down to sleep and then i would be in trouble, stuck in the middle of the aisle.

I love how the flowers are just popped into vintage glass bottles.

this is so quaint oh my goodness. I might also serve popcorn at my wedding, if i have one of those outdoor ones.

Cupcakes, ice cream and popcorn… come to think of it, i might end up having a really fattening wedding.

Singapore has one of the most stunning night scenes in the world with lightshows every few minutes sparking and shining all the time. Definitely going to have a wedding that stretches the whole day till the night!

I really love sparklers.

I really hope her dress doesn’t catch fire though. That would kind of ruin the wedding.

AIYOOOOO THAT BOY SO CUTE. I dont know where to find little kids to hold the train and ring, maybe i should get married a little later so my friends will all have kids already heh heh.

The girls in the first photo are lovely too! The colours of the dresses are all really nice- i came to the conclusion that it’s really more of the cutting and style of the dress than the colour that makes the bridesmaids look stunning.

Not too stunning though my wedding ok spotlight here please kthx.

Lastly:

Photobucket

Ingenious!! A typewriter at the entrance for all the idiots who didn’t bring a card/message for me (seriously why did i even invite you)

This is great because:

1. Prevents embarrassing moments where idiots (why did i invite them WHY) forget to bring a card or something and at the reception, they’re just like.. erm… sorry…
2. Much more creative than a guestbook! Also, you dont have to deal with annoying and unreadable handwriting in ugly ballpen colours.

I dont know where to find a typewriter though. Um. Vintage shops?

I hope you enjoyed the photos as much as i did! People around me keep getting married- my colleague proposed to his girlfriend last week, my other colleague is proposing soon, one more is getting married at the end of the year and MOST OF THE REST ARE MARRIED.

Yeah anyway biggest dilemma for my own wedding would probably be whether i should ask my dad to be the minister at the wedding. What if he gets offended if i dont ask?! But if he’s the minister who’s going to walk me down the aisle?! …..

Maybe i should start with that cat training programme.
